Week
5 of camp closes! I was blessed with having 9 girls- a full cabin. I
realized at the end of the week, after 4 girls left early, that I
wouldn't want any fewer campers in my cabin. I grew to love each one of them. This week was quite
exciting in it's own ways... A
night trip to the ER with one of my campers for a pretty severe
allergic reaction and leg infection, another sick camper with possible
strep, a bat in our cabin! (thank goodness another counselor was in
there at the moment or i would have gone bananas), a sick wrangler,
campers yelling in their sleep at night, and the list goes on.... Oh,
and I forgot some pretty awesome thunder/lightning/hail storms which
knocked out power several times during chapel. "The rains descended and the floods came..." Guess God had some very
important things to say (at least the campers stayed pretty calm)! But the
blessings of spending time listening to, talking, and laughing with these
girls is far more amazing!! I even had one of my 12 year old campers get "Camper of the Week". She was such a blessing to me with her gentle spirit, helpfulness, and positive attitude. The
Lord used this week to challenge me to trust Him more and to show me
areas I need to surrender and let Him work. Satan started attacking my
thoughts and bringing up all the lies He's used in the past to trip me
up. I am thankful for the wise people God has placed in my
life to bring the truth and fight alongside me to combat these lies. I will battle on my knees in prayer and fill my mind with God's Word. Please pray for next week. It
will be our last junior camp week. It is a bittersweet feeling. Then we will have two teen weeks and
this camp season will be over. The time is passing quickly. My prayer is for God to help us endure strong to the end. We are tired and the enemy knows we are more vulnerable, but our God is all powerful and can keep our hearts and minds focused on the task ahead of us. I'm praying for lives to continue to be changed (staff and campers), as we have seen in previous weeks.
